Determinants of Food Security of Internally Displaced Farming Households in Maiduguri Borno State, Nigeria

Abstract:

This research evaluates the food security status of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have engaged in farming in Maiduguri, Borno State. Using the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS), the study reveals that despite returning to farming, many households remain food insecure due to limited access to fertile land, high cost of inputs, and persistent security fears. The study calls for targeted agricultural subsidies and enhanced security for farmers in the region.
