AUTHOR Guidelines

The AEFUNAI Journal of Economics, Finance and Development Studies (AEFUNAIJEFDS) is a peer-reviewed scholarly Open Access journal that publishes original research in economics, finance, and development studies, with emphasis on Africa and emerging economies Bi-annually.

The journal does not charge submission or article processing fees at the time of submission. Any changes to the journal’s fee policy, if applicable, will be clearly communicated on the journal website prior to submission.

Authors are advised to read these guidelines carefully before submitting a manuscript.

1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

AEFUNAIJEFDS accepts the following manuscript types:

  • Original research articles
  • Review and survey papers
  • Conceptual and theoretical studies
  • Policy analyses and perspectives
  • Case studies

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system (OJS) or through the journal’s email address

  • Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Manuscripts may be submitted at any time of the year.
  • There is no submission or processing fee, unless otherwise stated.
  • Manuscripts must be written in clear and concise English.
  • Authors are responsible for grammar, spelling, and clarity.

Either British or American English may be used, but must be consistent throughout the manuscript.

Manuscripts should be prepared in the following order:

  1. Title Page
    • Title of the manuscript
    • Full names of authors
    • Institutional affiliations
    • Corresponding author’s email address
  2. Abstract
    • Maximum of 250 words
    • Clearly state the objective, methodology, key findings, and implications
  3. Keywords
    • Provide 3–6 keywords
  4. Main Text
    • Introduction
    • Literature Review
    • Methodology
    • Results / Findings
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion and Policy Implications
  5. References (Adhere to APA 7th Edition)
  6. Appendices (if applicable)
  • AEFUNAIJEFDS uses the APA referencing style (latest edition).
  • All in-text citations must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
  • Research articles: 5,000 – 8,000 words
  • Review papers: 6,000 – 10,000 words
  • Policy papers and case studies: 4,000 – 6,000 words
  • Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and titled clearly.
  • Sources must be acknowledged where applicable.
  • Figures should be of high resolution and embedded in the text.

Authors must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

  • All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism.
  • A similarity index of up to 15% is acceptable, excluding references and common methodological expressions.
  • Any form of plagiarism or unethical conduct will result in rejection or retraction.
  • All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the manuscript.
  • Changes to authorship after submission require written consent from all authors.

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research or interpretation of findings.
