The Nexus Between Financial Development and Monetary Policy in Nigeria: An Impact Assessment

Abstract:

This paper investigates the connection between financial development and monetary policy in Nigeria, emphasizing the short-run effects of financial market capitalization, private sector credit, and liquidity ratio on money supply. Utilizing the ARDL model, the findings indicate that financial market capitalization and private sector credit significantly and positively influence money supply, while the liquidity ratio has a significant negative impact. The results highlight the importance of financial market deepening and credit availability in shaping monetary policy.
