Abstract:

Economic digitization in Nigeria not only creates and boost self-esteen and sense of belonging, but also enhances the accessibility of communication by the majority of the poor and excluded from social media and information channels, mobile banking, and e-commerce activities. This study examined the effect of the digital economy on economic transformation and poverty reduction in North Central Nigeria. The field survey was conducted on a sample of 6436 respondents drawn from 9 local government areas across three senatorial districts of the selected states: Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue states. Findings indicate that economic digitization creates jobs and enhances accessibility to financial services for the poor, leading to significant poverty reduction.
